Who knows why anyone might have thought this, but if you're like us, you may have expected a night's rest to ease the pain. It didn't. The shock that came from a recent Philadelphia Eagles loss has only given way to anger.
Upon a rewatch of this one, it's relatively apparent that the offensive line was worse in this one than it seemed at first. The offense as a whole was abhorrent after its first three drives. The Eagles went well over 41 minutes without placing a single point on the scoreboard. The result was a 24-21 collapse vs. the rival Dallas Cowboys.
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementMost blame conservatism. Nick Sirianni denies that there was any. That won't sell in the City of Brotherly Love. A more accepted theory is that Kevin Patullo is either totally to blame for this, or he'll be treated as Nick Sirianni's scapegoat.
Lane Johnson is sitting out due to injury. That certainly won't help an offensive line that already looked in shambles when he was in the lineup, and even though Fred Johnson is a decent replacement, he's no Lane Johnson.
'The other Johnson' started in place of the future Hall of Famer and had a decent game, minus that flag for the illegal hands to the face penalty. It seemingly only took one game for him to reach his wits' end with Philadelphia's rushing attack.
On the surface, asking the coaches seems a good idea. Plus, we've already been told by Jalen Hurts and A.J. Brown to ask Kevin Patullo about what's going on. Every attempt to do so has only led to more frustration.
