Netflix just released the perfect show to binge this week if you're a fan of epic historical series like The Crown. In fact, you could even say that this acclaimed series is a sort of prequel to Netflix's hit Emmy-winning drama.

Netflix is already off to a hot start to kick off its December 2025 new release slate, including the brand new dating reality show Love Is Blind: Italy. That said, Stranger Things continues to be the #1 series on the platform worldwide and should continue its global streaming dominance throughout the rest of the year.

This celebrated costume drama earned a Certified Fresh Rotten Tomatoes score of 87% and an IMDb rating of 8.2. It was even nominated for 2 Emmys during its three-season run from 2016 to 2019 and is now one of the best shows to binge-watch on Netflix this week.

Victoria Seasons 1–3 Are Now Streaming On Netflix In December 2025

As of December 1, 2025, the historical drama series Victoria is now available to stream in its entirety on Netflix. Part of the PBS anthology series Masterpiece, Victoria depicts the early life and royal ascension of Queen Victoria in mid-to-late 19th-century England.

Victoria stars Jenna Coleman as the titular protagonist and also features performances by Rufus Sewell (The Diplomat), Nell Hudson (Outlander), Tom Hughes (About Time), and the late Adrian Schiller (The Last Kingdom).

Critics mostly praised Victoria, even though it did not achieve the masterpiece status of The Crown or PBS's other hit costume drama series, Downton Abbey. Variety's review of Victoria noted, "For fans of flouncy skirts, romantic skirmishes in palaces, silk waistcoats and handsome English actors, Masterpiece's royal diversion may be hard to resist."

Victoria Is The Perfect Show To Binge On Netflix After Watching The Crown

Victoria season 2 Via: PBS

Victoria consists of 25 episodes across three seasons, each roughly 45 minutes apiece, making it an excellent series to start binge-watching on Netflix this week – especially for fans of The Crown, which initially chronicles the life of Queen Elizabeth II, Victoria's great-great-granddaughter.

Netflix subscribers looking for a cozy series to dive into to close out Fall 2025 in comfort will find a lot to like about Victoria. Similar to The Crown, Victoria is best appreciated as a work of extended historical fiction rather than a true biographical chronicle of its public figure subjects, most notably Queen Victoria and her eventual husband, Prince Albert (played by Hughes).

Interestingly, both Victoria and The Crown premiered around the same time in 2016, but it was the original Netflix series that had the more successful run, totaling 60 episodes across six seasons and winning an impressive 24 Emmys. Don't go into Victoria expecting the exact same quality as The Crown, but do expect an immersive and well-crafted historical drama series worth binging on Netflix right now.
