The Washington Commanders will not play a prime-time game against the Philadelphia Eagles when the NFC East rivals meet in Week 16.
Back when the NFL revealed the 2025 schedule in May, the Eagles and Commanders — last season's NFC Championship Game — would be featured matchups in Weeks 16 and 18. That's right, the first meeting of the season between Washington and Philadelphia wouldn't come until Week 16. Additionally, the NFL scheduled the Week 16 game for Saturday, allowing it to be a prime-time game or a standalone late-afternoon game.
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementThe 2025 season hasn't gone as planned for the 3-9 Commanders, so there's less of a reason to make it a prime-time matchup. So, in Week 16, the Commanders and Eagles will kick off at 5:00 p.m. ET.
The Week 18 game still doesn't have a time. If it has NFC East implications — between the Eagles and Cowboys — it could be a late game, but it's unlikely. Obviously, the NFL believed the Eagles and Commanders would be must-see TV again in 2025, which hasn't happened. Injuries have ruined Washington's season, with quarterback Jayden Daniels missing six games and counting.
Most Washington fans are probably thankful for no more prime-time games in 2025. This helps Washington, too, as it has a Christmas Day game against the Cowboys at 1:00 p.m., only five days after facing the Eagles.
