The New York Jets (3-9) snapped their two-game losing streak with a victory over the Atlanta Falcons, 27-24, in Week 13.
Nick Folk kicked the game-winning 56 yard field goal as time expired and the team continued to show plenty of fight, battling back from multiple deficits to earn their third win of the season.

Here is Jets Wire’s grades for the team's win over the Falcons (4-8):
Passing Offense: B
It really is a world of difference for this offense with a quarterback capable of getting the ball down the field. Tyrod Taylor threw for only 172 yards and a touchdown, but he managed the game well and didn't turn the ball over. He threw a 52-yard touchdown to AD Mitchell, who finished with 102 yards on eight catches in a breakout game for the second-year receiver.
Outside of Mitchell’s huge day, the rest of the Jets receivers were quiet. John Metchie III had a few drops on the afternoon and Breece Hall was only targeted twice in the passing game, which is disappointing. Hall’s their best weapon on offense and Tanner Engstrand needs to find a way to get him the ball more in this offense. Still, it was another good game for Taylor as the Jets look to finish out the season on a high note.

Hall was good, but not great running the football with 68 yards on 19 carries and a touchdown. Tyrod Taylor’s ability to scramble and extend plays was massive as he added 44 yards on eight carries and a touchdown of his own. The Jets as a team totaled 110 yards on 28 carries and averaged close to four yards per carry. It wasn’t pretty, but it was a productive day for this unit. If there was one surprise it was Isaiah Davis not having any carries in the run game and not targeted once in the passing game.
Passing Defense: B
The Jets struggled to contain Kyle Pitts all afternoon as the tight end finished with seven catches for 82 yards. Outside of Pitts, the Falcons receivers were pretty quiet and the team definitely missed Drake London, who missed his second straight game.

Stephens was targeted four times on 37 coverage snaps and only allowed one reception for four yards. He now has a PFF grade of 74.7, ranking him 13th out of 110 cornerbacks. The days of second-guessing the contract the Jets offered him in free agency are over.
Rushing Defense: C-
Bijan Robinson ran all over the Jets in Week 13 to the tune of 142 yards on 23 carries and a touchdown. He averaged over six yards per carry and even added 51 receiving yards on five catches. Tyler Allgeier also had a touchdown on the ground for Atlanta and that’s now seven rushing touchdowns allowed by the Jets defense over their last three games. Not a good week for this unit and they'll need a much better effort next week with Devon Achane and the Dolphins heading to MetLife Stadium.
Special Teams: A
While Nick Folk missed his first field goal of the season, the attempt was from 55 yards in the rain, so it's forgivable. But, he made the kick that mattered most from 56 yards that sealed the victory.
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementIsaiah Williams almost returned another kick for a touchdown early in the fourth quarter, but his 83 yard return still led to a game-tying Folk field goal. Williams has become a very dangerous kick returner and teams will probably start making sure they avoid him at all costs. Quantez Stiggers forced the Jets second turnover of the season after recovering a fumbled punt by Jamal Agnew. Chris Banjo continues to do wonders with this unit.
Coaching: B+
The Jets are starting to look like a team that fans should be proud of. A December game in the rain with the playoffs most likely out of reach is exactly the type of game this team normally mails in and shows no effort. And yet, they trailed a few times against Atlanta and battled back each time to ultimately get their third win of the season. The Falcons had over 100 more total yards on offense and had nine more first downs. And the Jets still found a way to beat them.
They were flying around all afternoon and made plays when it mattered. Their rookies are showing real promise and players like AD Mitchell and John Metchie are taking advantage of the opportunity to carve out future roles with this team.
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementWhatever Aaron Glenn is preaching, this team has bought in. They make mistakes and coaching decisions will be second-guessed. But, they’re playing hard for this coaching staff and perhaps the seeds have been planted for a winning culture in Florham Park.
