The ebb and flow season for the Florida State Seminoles football team continued this past week with a loss to NC State. The Wolfpack jumped out to a 7-0 margin in the first quarter and never relinquished the lead in their 21-11 win over FSU. The Seminoles once again outpaced their opponent in total offense (383 to 286) but failed to execute where it matters most, the scoreboard.
In the running game, quarterback Tommy Castellanos ended up with the most yards, picking up 76 on 11 carries/scrambles. In total, FSU only notched 180 yards on the ground, well below their 220+ season average. Castellanos was kept clean as NC State picked up zero sacks and only recorded one tackle for loss. Still for all the glimpses of success, the offense struggled in key moments, leading to the loss and a need for a season finale win over the Florida Gators to obtain bowl eligibility.

The total score is an average of the run and pass blocking scores. The scores will be weighted more towards where the player saw the most action.
PFF isn’t a perfect scoring system. The graders cannot know 100% of the assignments on each play.
PFF CFB Scale: 90-100 Elite, 85-89 All-Conference, 70-84 starter, 60-69 Backup, <60 Replaceable

Florida State offensive line performance takeaways with @Ricobert11:
Another week, another superlative effort from Luke Petitbon (74 run block, 85 pass block). Both numbers are season highs for him, and Petitbon has cemented himself as the best transfer portal acquisition at OL of the Mike Norvell era.
Hansen has seemed to get healthier, putting in a 64/71 run/pass effort this past week. That is his best run-blocking score since facing diminutive Kent State (81).
Pittman’s 50 run blocking score (pretty mediocre) is his worst on the season since imitating a speed bump vs Miami (43).
While scoring a 64 in pass blocking for the game, Adrian Medley was very poor in true pass sets – recording a score of 44. His 3 pressures allowed on 19 true drop backs was the worst amongst the OL.
Bonus data: FSU’s OL is 39th out of 136 FBS schools this year in overall PFF blocking score: 20th in pass blocking, 53rd in run blocking. Though under a Gus offense, you’d probably want the pass/rush scores flipped.
