New Jersey high school football season is officially complete and according to the Massey Ratings, it’ll end with Don Bosco Prep Ironmen as the No. 1 ranked program out of the Garden State.

It was St. Joseph Regional winning the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association (NJSIAA) Non-Public A state championship on Friday night, capping an improbable run to the top. Who else made the cut in the 13th and final set of the Top 25 rankings for 2025 out of New Jersey?

The Massey Ratings, officially used during the BCS era, is a model that ranks sports teams by analyzing game outcomes, strength of schedule, and margin of victory.

Here is the latest New Jersey high school football Top 25 rankings, according to Massey as of Dec. 1.

1. Don Bosco Prep Ironmen

The Don Bosco Prep Ironmen (11-1) came up short in their bid for an undefeated season and winning the NJSIAA’s Non-Public A state championship, falling to St. Joseph Regional in a 24-21 decision at MetLife Stadium this past Friday night.

For the Ironmen, it’s a disappointing finish as they seemed destined to bring home the program’s first championship since 2021 behind a very talented cast of players. The bright spot is a lot of the key components that got them to the title game will be back for 2026.

Don Bosco Prep opened the season with a 14-10 win over Melissa (TX) and followed it up with another out-of-state team in Monarch (Fla.), defeating the Knights 38-21 at home. The Ironmen soundly defeated St. Anthony’s (N.Y.) a couple few ago, 28-0. The Ironmen a few weeks ago faced No. 7 ranked DePaul Catholic, the eventual Non-Public B champs, and came away with a convincing 47-15 victory.

2. St. Joseph Regional Green Knights

St. Joseph Regional (10-2) had booked their ticket to the Non-Public Class A state championship game after defeating No. 6 St. Peter’s Prep, 25-21, to reach the state title game for the first time since 2018.

All Auggie Hoffman’s group did once they got there was pull off a thrilling 24-21 victory over Don Bosco Prep , coming away with the NJSIAA Non-Public A state championship. Though they come up short in taking the top spot, according to the Massey Ratings, there’s a boatload of reasons down the stretch of season why the Green Knights should be the state’s top ranked team.

The Green Knights got things rolling this 2025 season when they traveled down to the nation’s capital to face St. John’s College High coming away with a 34-19 win to kickoff the season and then followed it up with a 48-0 victory over Cardinal Hayes (N.Y.). The signs were there all season long on why St. Joseph Regional could be the state’s top team and they proved the naysayers wrong in the end.

3. Bergen Catholic Crusaders

The last time the Bergen Catholic Crusaders (8-3) have lost two games or more was 2019 and now they won’t be defending their state championship, stopping a run of four consecutive years doing so after a 31-17 loss to Don Bosco Prep.

The Crusaders have had themselves a doozy of a regular season opener when they defeated East St. Louis (Ill.) at the Battle at the Beach Classic in Ocean City as a nationally ranked program. Bergen Catholic then followed up that with another impressive win down in South Florida, defeating West Boca Raton (Fla.), 21-14. Losses to Don Bosco Prep, twice, and St. Joseph Regional, certainly changed the course of the Crusaders’ ceiling this fall.

Bergen Catholic started the postseason off hot with a 56-14 win over Saint Joseph before their loss to the Ironmen.

4. Hun School Raiders

The Hun School (7-3) closed out their 2025 regular season with a 50-21 thrashing of St. Thomas More (CT).

The Raiders recently cruised past Springside Chestnut Hill Academy, 42-0, and then few weeks ago soundly defeated winless Mt. Zion Prep, 48-0. Hun School relies on a stout defense, led by a pair of senior defensive ends in Luke Wafle (USC commit) and Seth Clarke (Rice commit).

2027 three-star quarterback Lukas Prock finished a stellar junior season completing 226 of 309 passes for 4,330 yards and 41 touchdowns.

5. Winslow Township Eagles

Well look who has made their way inside of the Top 5 in the final set of rankings this season as Winslow Township (12-2) as they defeated Ramapo, 34-21, for the NJSIAA Group 4 state championship.

When looking at the level of talent the Eagles have on their roster, there’s little question this roster is one of the best teams in New Jersey. Winslow Township features a very talented wide receiving corps, which includes senior three-stars Quayd Hendryx (UConn commit), Nyqir Helton (North Carolina commit) and TJ Maddox.

The Eagles only two losses of the season came against IMG Academy and No. 3 Bergen Catholic, respectively.
