The Week 13 game between the Detroit Lions and Green Bay Packers is not lacking controversy.

First, the Packers were given a touchdown on a pass from Jordan Love to Dontayvion Wicks in the second quarter when it looked like it should have been overturned because Wicks didn't appear to have control of the football.

Then, the Packers were flagged for a false start later in the quarter when they were near the goal line, only to have the flag picked up because Green Bay called a timeout.

Except, they didn't actually get the timeout off in time.

Based on this video here, Packers head coach Matt LaFleur clearly signals for a timeout after the false start has already occurred.

Had the penalty stood, the Packers likely would have kicked a field goal. Instead, Green Bay still went for it and scored a touchdown on the next play.

The only explanation for why the Packers were given credit for the timeout before the false start is LaFleur verbally said it to an official before signaling for one.

FOX sideline reporter Tom Rinaldi said LaFleur was yelling for the timeout, but the officials did not hear him initially, which is why he had to move down the sideline and signal for one.

While that might be true, it means nothing. If the officials don't hear it, they can't call it. Green Bay should've been stuck with the penalty.
