New York Giants right tackle Jermaine Eluemunor had the unenviable task on Sunday in Detroit of trying to contain Lions Pro Bowl defensive end Aidan Hutchinson.

Most of the day, he handled Hutchinson, keeping him off quarterback Jameis Winston to the extent where Winston was able to pass for 366 yards on the afternoon. But it was Hutchinson who had the final say when he sacked Winston to end the game in overtime to seal the Lions' 34-27 comeback victory in overtime.

After the game, Eluemunor wanted to let everyone know that he held Hutchinson basically in check until that moment.

From Dan Duggan of The Athletic:

Giants RT Jermaine Eluemunor gave up the sack to Lions DE Aidan Hutchinson on the final play of the game. It was the only sack the Giants allowed all day. Eluemunor to me on his matchup with Hutchinson:

“How do I say this respectfully: He did not do a damn thing all (expletive) game. He strikes me as the type of guy that would try to celebrate that one play, but for most of the day I was on an island with him and he didn’t do anything. Obviously I’m (expletive) about the last play, but at the same time, there’s not much you can do. They know what you’re going to do and he still tries to give me his best move and I run him by the quarterback and he just manages to run back upfield and get the sack.”

Not quite. Hutchinson, who played 77 snaps on Sunday, may not have had a sack until the final moment, but he did have five prior QB hits on Winston and five other tackles (one for a loss) in the game. But, yes, Eluemunor did a bang-up job on the former Michigan star.

"It was fighting all game, and they were really running the ball and really trying to set that tone. And OT, we got a lot of pass-rush situations, and we had one more from the hold-down and made the most of it," Hutchison said after the game, via MLive.com.

"Really, it's guys were sticky in coverage. (Lions defensive tackle Alim McNeill) had a great bull rush on it, which led Jameis to step up right into me. So it was really -- that’s what happens when guys are covering, and your whole D-line is rushing hard, and eventually you reap the rewards."

The sack couldn't have come at a more opportune time. In a year of near-misses, this is just the latest in a long line for these Giants.
