Things are not going well at Real Madrid. Vinicius Jr has revealed the reason behind his refusal to extend his contract.

Tensions between Vinicius Junior and Xabi Alonso are set to impact the Brazilian’s future. Since January, he has been in discussions with Real Madrid over a contract extension—his current deal runs until June 2027—but the Brazil international has told Madrid president Florentino Pérez he won’t sign a new contract as long as his relationship with the Spanish coach remains this strained. That’s according to a report from The Athletic on Monday.

After his anger when he was substituted against FC Barcelona (2-1) in La Liga on October 26, Vinicius personally met with the club’s president to apologize. It was during this meeting that the Madrid star made his intentions clear about his future: he doesn’t want to extend his contract because of Alonso.
