There were several questions revolving around Devin Haney‘s mental state, especially after a rusty performance in his previous win over José Ramirez in May. Haney (33-0, 15 KOs) erased all the doubt, with a unanimous decision victory against Brian Norman Jr. for the WBO welterweight title, at the ANB Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, last Saturday. “The Dream” captured a world championship in a third weight class.
After a dominant outing, we consider four potential opponents the WBO welterweight champion may face in his next fight.

The undefeated Lewis Crocker met Paddy Donovan in a rematch for the vacant IBF welterweight title in September. In a close contest, Crocker knocked Donavan down twice; which proved to be the difference as he won by split decision to become the new IBF welterweight champion. “The Croc” is listed No. 10 at 147 pounds on ESPN’s divisional rankings. A unification fight against a fellow undefeated champion would certainly be intriguing.
Rolando Romero
“Rolly” is coming off a unanimous decision victory against Ryan Garcia for the WBA (Regular) welterweight title in May. Romero controlled the pace of the fight, and scored a knock down over Garcia in the second round. He was elevated to full WBA champion in August, after former 147-pound unified champion Jaron Ennis vacated the WBA, and IBF titles. Romero was ordered to make a mandatory defense against Gerasim Gerasimov. However, he has been linked to rumors as a potential opponent for the legendary Manny Pacquiao.

In April 2024, Haney was battered up, and hit the canvas three times in a brutal outing against Ryan Garcia. “King Ryan” initially won by majority decision, which was later overturned to a no contest after he failed a drug test. Haney has been clear about his desire for a rematch, as their feud has since become personal. He previously revealed that his next fight could be a second meeting with Garcia. The native of Victorville, California, is set to challenge Mario Barrios for the WBC welterweight title in February 2026.
Manny Pacquiao
In July, the former eight-division champion made a shocking return, nearly four years after his last professional contest. Pacquiao, 46, aimed to become the oldest welterweight champion in history, as he challenged Barrios for the WBC title. Although the fight ended in a majority draw, “Pacman” is still determined to accomplish the feat. He set the current record when he defeated Keith Thurman for the WBA (Super) welterweight title by split decision in July 2019, at age 40.
