Warren Central star defensive lineman Jerimy Finch Jr. is the Marion County Player of the Year by a vote of the county coaches.

Finch, a 6-3, 280-pound Alabama recruit, helped the Warriors to their first Class 6A regional championship in seven years. Warren Central finished 8-5 with a 31-0 loss to No. 1 Brownsburg on Friday in the Class 6A semistate, though Finch finished with 14 tackles, four tackles for loss and one sack.

For his senior season, Finch had 85 tackles, 23 TFLs and 7 ½ sacks in just 10 games. He also ran for two touchdowns this season. Finch finished his high school career with 138 tackles, 37 ½ TFLs and 10 ½ sacks, along with three caused fumbles, two fumble recoveries and one blocked field goal.

Warren Central coach J.T. Whitaker was named the Marion County Coach of the Year after leading the Warriors to a regional title in his first season. Warren Central will return several key players next season and will look to build on a strong finish.

After former teammate Davion Chandler won Offensive Player of the Year the past two seasons, Lawrence North junior Izayveon Moore took the honor this year.

Moore, a shifty running back, ran for 1,587 yards and 30 touchdowns this season to lead Lawrence North to a 7-3 record. He also caught eight passes for 244 yards – a whopping 30.5 yards per catch – and two more TDs. It was the third consecutive 1,000-yard rushing season for Moore, who has 4,083 rushing yards and 61 rushing TDs in three seasons.

Decatur Central senior Kasmir Hicks, an Indiana recruit, was named the Defensive Player of the Year by the coaches. The two-way standout finished his senior season with 31 tackles, two TFLs, three interceptions, one fumble recovery and one caused fumble on defense. On offense, he ran for 697 yards and 11 TDs and caught 33 passes for 463 yards and three TDs, along with averaging 24.9 yards on seven kickoff returns and 19.6 yards on five punt returns.

Hicks helped Decatur Central to a Class 5A state championship as a junior and a 6A sectional title as a senior. He ran for 1,213 yards and 16 TDs and caught 92 passes for 1,377 yards and 16 TDs for his career. Hicks had 95 tackles, seven interceptions, five TFLs and three fumble recoveries. He scored 38 career TDs, including three on kickoff returns and three on interception returns.
