As a recurring and primary member of the Transformers universe, Josh Duhamel’s name will forever be synonymous with action. And, while his time in the Michael Bay-helmed franchise may not have seen him as the leading man, that all changed earlier this year when his long-awaited action comedy, London Calling, celebrated its release. Helmed by Allan Ungar (Sympathy for the Devil), the movie saw the talents of the Shotgun Wedding star collide with the likes of Suits alum Rick Hoffman, It’s Jeremy Ray Taylor, and Game of Thrones baddie Aidan Gillen. Together, the quartet drove the plot behind a high-stakes crime flick with a hefty side helping of comedy. Soon, Hulu will invite audiences to enter the criminal world led by Duhamel when London Calling arrives on the streamer on December 20.

While it might not be your typical title to ring in the holiday season, London Calling is the perfect break from those feel-good and easy-to-predict Hallmark Christmas movies and other timeless favorites like A Christmas Story and Elf. In it, Duhamel appears as a hitman known as Tommy Ward who is forced to leave his chosen home of London behind and return to the U.S. after accidentally knocking off the relative of London’s most notorious crime leader. With his son still across the pond, Tommy is willing to do anything in his power to ensure their reunion, which means taking a job he really doesn’t want to sign on for. The gig in question sees him allowing his new boss’ soft-heartened son, Julian (Taylor), to tag along during his upcoming hits in hopes of making him a hardened criminal worthy of the family name.

What’s Next for Josh Duhamel?

Now that London Calling is finally getting its streaming release, which will hopefully put more eyes on the action flick, Duhamel is looking forward to a slew of other fresh projects that are on the way over the next year or so. His next appearance is slated to be in Joe Carnahan’s survival thriller, Not Without Hope, which will also feature the talents of Zachary Levi, Quentin Plair and Terrence Terrell. Slated for an arrival on December 12, the movie centers on the harrowing true story of a group of friends who face fatal consequences while on a fishing trip off the coast of Florida. Additionally, Duhamel is returning to the director’s chair for the upcoming comedy feature, Preschool, in which he will also star alongside Michael Socha, Charity Wakefield, Antonia Thomas and more.

Head over to Hulu on December 1 to stream London Calling.
