With the universe at stake, DC reveals which of the universe's dozens of weapons is the most powerful. DC K.O. promises to crown one character as the most powerful, but it also delivers other revelations along the way. For example, it shows that Batman isn't invincible, and that the Joker won't hesitate to pull the trigger if he knows Batman will be back.

Luck plays a big role in DC K.O.'s apocalyptic tournament. Harley Quinn somehow makes it into the first brackets while Shazam gets eliminated before he can throw the first punch. Batman's armor is supposed to withstand attacks from the strongest opponents, but he's caught off-guard while speaking with his allies.

That said, sheer power does make a difference, as evidenced by the next round of the contest.

DC Confirms The Power Rings Are The Most Powerful Weapons In The DC Universe

In DC K.O. #2, all thirty-two remaining participants of the tournament are told the rules of their next challenge. The sixteen most powerful items in the DC Universe are scattered on the battlefield, and they have to claim one or die trying. While all other contestants use their unique abilities to locate and claim a weapon, Lex Luthor uses the most advanced tech systems from Earth to locate the most powerful: the Power Rings.

Luthor rushes to take the Power Rings "within a single second," even faster than Cyborg reaches out to the Mother Box and Hawkman rushes toward the Claw of Horus. Other weapons include none other than Thor's Hammer, the God Killer Sword, and a Speed Force ring. The Power Rings are statistically the most common of all items in the tournament, yet Luthor knows they're also the most lethal and versatile. DC K.O.'s sixteen items are:

  • Blue Beetle Scarab
  • God Killer Sword
  • Worlogog
  • Atom's Belt
  • Mother Box
  • Psycho Pirate's Medusa Mask
  • Thor's Hammer
  • Bane's Venom
  • Speed Force Ring
  • Power Rings
  • Genie Pen
  • Claw of Horus
  • Soul Taker Sword
  • Lasso of Truth
  • Cosmic Rod
  • ... And one mystery item

Curiously, one would think the Genie Pen would be more useful than the Power Rings themselves, as Yz or a different genie's Fifth-Dimensional abilities could completely dominate the battle. However, the genie might not be as collaborative as the rings, which can be commanded with emotions. The Worlogog allows its user to reshape reality, but its power might be limited under these circumstances, and it may require a level of awareness that most contestants simply don't possess.

The Power Rings Remain Unmatched After Decades Of DC History

The Power Rings Have Threatened And Saved The Universe More Than Once}

Green Lantern Emotional Spectrum DC Comics Green Lantern Emotional Spectrum DC Comics

Power Rings are among the most versatile weapons in all fiction, as their capabilities are limited only by the user’s imagination. A Lantern can create any construct on the spot, including complex machines. They're basically an infinite number of weapons in one. The stronger the will or emotional intensity of the bearer, the more powerful and complex the rings' creations can become.

The Power Rings have been central to the DC Universe for eighty-five years. Events like Emerald Twilight, Blackest Night, Zero Hour, and the Sinestro Corps War show how a single Lantern or an entire Corps can reshape the whole cosmic order. When corrupted or driven by emotional extremes, Power Rings can unleash apocalyptic consequences limited only by the bearer's imagination and emotional commitment.

Power Rings have saved the DC Universe just as often as they’ve endangered it. During Blackest Night, the combined Lantern Corps restore life and existence itself, while crises like the War of Light and Brightest Day prove the Corps' importance as the universe’s first line of defense. On a constant basis, thousands of Lanterns patrol space and protect every sector of every galaxy. While common, they're the golden standard for DC weapons.
