A Minnesota Vikings legend was sent out to the proverbial sea today, as Adam Thielen and the franchise came to a mutual understanding to release the veteran wide receiver on Monday.
Thielen, who approached the Vikings earlier in the week, broached the subject of being let go to finish his final season in the NFL elsewhere, and they obliged. He is now free to sign with any team in the league.

After two years in Carolina, he returned to Minnesota in 2025 after announcing it would be his final season as an active player. Now 35, Thielen's impact has been minimal at best on a team with one of the worst offenses in the league, with only 69 receiving yards through 11 games.
Thielen's final year in 2025 has summarized the Vikings for the most part. A team with high aspirations that have cratered due to poor play at the quarterback position, with Carson Wentz, Max Brosmer, and starter J.J. McCarthy all failing to perform at even an adequate level. Brosmer, the latest to join the ranks of failed Vikings QBs in 2025, threw for four interceptions and no scores in the team's loss to former quarterback Sam Darnold and the Seahawks.
Although having a forgettable season, Thielen does bring experience and veteran hands to a possible contender in need of a depth wideout. We will keep you posted as this story develops on where the tenured receiver will play his final games in the NFL.
