The Last Narc

Released in 2020, The Last Narc remains one of the most gripping and acclaimed original documentary series streaming on Prime Video. At just 4 episodes, it's also one of the most binge-worthy docuseries on the streaming platform, with an 86% Rotten Tomatoes audience score to back it up.

The official logline reads: "In 1985, DEA agent Enrique Kiki Camarena is kidnapped, tortured and murdered by Mexican drug lords; special agent Hector Berellez reveals the truth about the conspiracy behind Camarena's murder that stretches from Mexico to Washington, D.C." The series also earned a very strong IMDb rating of 8.5, placing it on the same level as Emmy winners like The Bear and The Last of Us.

The Last Narc tells the completely factual version of the story told in Netflix's hit series Narcos: Mexico, in which actor Michael Peña portrayed Enrique Kiki Camarena. Simply put, if you're a fan of true crime documentaries or the Narcos Netflix franchise and still haven't seen The Last Narc, add this thrilling series to the top of your Prime Video watchlist right now.

Catastrophe

If you're looking for something more lighthearted and casual for your weekend binge, Catastrophe is a great classic series that's an absolute breeze to watch. Consisting of 24 episodes across four seasons, all 28 minutes or less, you could reasonably binge the whole comedy show from start to finish by Sunday night.

After premiering in 2015, Catastrophe earned critical acclaim and was nominated for 2 Emmys, including outstanding writing for a comedy series, for stars and co-creators Rob Delaney and Sharon Horgan. Delaney plays an American man named Rob who accidentally gets a woman named Sharon (Horgan) pregnant during a business trip in London.

A sort of long-winded, globe-trotting version of the classic Judd Apatow movie Knocked Up, Catastrophe earned a near-perfect Rotten Tomatoes score of 98%, along with an audience score of 92% and an IMDb rating of 8.2. For fans of edgy dark comedy, Catastrophe is essentially required viewing and makes for an ideal binge-watch over the course of a weekend on Prime Video.

Citadel: Diana

Although its predecessor, Citadel, divided critics during its 2023 launch, the 2024 spinoff series Citadel: Diana received much more favorable reviews, resulting in a Rotten Tomatoes score of 83%. Both spy action series, along with another 2024 spinoff, Citadel: Honey Bunny, were executive-produced by the Russo Brothers (Avengers: Endgame).

Of the entire franchise this far (Citadel season 2 will premiere in 2026), Citadel: Diana is the most critically acclaimed of the bunch, and is the only one set in the near-distant future. The 6-part action epic unfolds in Milan, Italy, in the year 2030, and stars Matilda De Angelis as undercover agent Diana Cavalieri, a mole inside the dangerous syndicate known as Manticore.

The series features a slate of well-known Italian actors and is available to stream with English subtitles and subbed audio. Even though the series was canceled after just one season, Citadel: Diana holds up if you're looking for a beautifully shot and deeply immersive action binge on a global scale, making it one of the best series worth binge-watching on Prime Video this weekend.
