Earlier on Friday, we brought you some comments from Liverpool fans (see 08:29 GMT) and content creators who were discussing Arne Slot's future.

BBC Radio Merseyside also spoke to Dan Clubbe from The Redmen TV podcast and Josh Williams, author of The Data Game, who have opposite opinions.

"Unfortunately, I think it is time for Arne Slot to go," said Clubbe. "While I would absolutely love for him to transform it and turn it around, it doesn't appear like he has any answer or solution to the many issues we have got right now.

"Defeats are one thing but it is the manner of the performances.

"The fundamentals of what makes a good football team aren't there. There are loads of problems - some of which aren't his fault - but it doesn't feel like the players are fighting for him any more.

"It would be a huge shame because I don't think anyone saw this coming and we will always be grateful for what he achieved last season. But right now, I think it might be too big of a job to turn it around."

However, Williams said: "I wouldn't sack Arne Slot if it can be helped because whoever replaces him will have the same top-heavy, unbalanced squad.

"There are two playable centre-halfs and no right-backs as it stands and a dwindling star down the right side in Mohamed Salah.

"You can't really drop him without it being a massive story.

"Even if it is a coaching issue that can be solved behind the scenes, whoever replaces him has a game every three days now.

"So even if replacing him is the right thing to do, they need to do everything they can to hold on until the end of the season to make sure the decision is the right one and the replacement is spot on."
