It first debuted with a perfect 100% Tomatometer score on Rotten Tomatoes, which has slightly dropped to 99%, though it's still Certified Fresh. Next, the sci-fi drama was reported to be off to a solid start in Luminate rankings, with just its first two episodes. And now, Pluribus has set a major record for Apple TV, breaking one previously held by one of the streamer's most popular and best sci-fi series.
In recent reports, Pluribus' premiere is now regarded as Apple TV's most viewed drama of all time. With that, the post-apocalyptic show has broken the record previously held by Severance Season 2 for the biggest global drama series launch across Apple TV's more than 100 territories, led by the U.S., UK, Canada, Brazil, Australia, Germany, Mexico, India, and France. The high viewership mark has been corroborated by the Nielsen Streaming Content Ratings in the U.S., measuring minutes for Episodes 1 and 2 of drama originals over the premiere weekend.
Speaking of Luminate rankings, Pluribus was reported earlier this week to have logged 6.4M hours with its first two episodes over the first seven days of release in the U.S. This landed the series at #4 for the week behind shows that all had significantly more episodes available, including the leading series All Her Fault, Death By Lightning, and Tulsa King. Pluribus is produced by Sony Pictures Television and executive-produced by Gilligan alongside Gordon Smith, Alison Tatlock, Diane Mercer, Allyce Ozarski, and Jeff Frost. Jenn Carroll and Trina Siopy serve as co-executive producers.
When Did You Hear About Apple TV's 'Pluribus'?
Although the official Pluribus title was officially announced in July 2025 alongside its planned November release, the series had been in the works for a while before. In a bidding war, Apple TV landed the black comedy in 2022 with a two-season order while filming followed from February to September 2024 in Albuquerque under the working title of Wycaro 339. Weighing in on the brilliance of Pluribus amid its spectacular run, Matt Cherniss, Apple TV's head of programming, said:
“Rarely has keeping the secret of a show we love so much been as fun or as rewarding an experience as it has been with Pluribus…It’s a thrill to watch audiences worldwide get hooked on this thought-provoking, insightful and darkly funny show rooted in humanity by an exceptional cast led by the talented Rhea Seehorn.”
Pluribus returns with the "Please, Carol" episode today. Stay tuned to Collider for more information.
