Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag is widely regarded as one of the best mainline Assassin's Creed games ever made, hailed as possibly the best pirate game ever made. It's no wonder players have been hoping for a remake or remaster of AC Black Flag for modern consoles, and while players have speculated that a remake is already in the works at Ubisoft, they might be playing it much sooner than expected.
According to a report by Insider Gaming, Ubisoft is planning to announce and release a remake of Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag before March 31, 2026. Ubisoft's delayed earnings report seems to confirm this, with an "unannounced title" still scheduled to be revealed before the end of their fiscal year.
Assassin's Creed Black Flag Remake Is Months Away, Apparently
Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag's Edward Kenway wielding two swords, surrounded by four other pirates on a ship's deck.
According to the exclusive, Ubisoft's "unannounced title" is definitely going to be the remake of Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag, the most beloved title among players in the entire AC franchise. While Ubisoft is keeping the title secret, likely gearing up for a big reveal, the insider report confirms something players have suspected for some time now after various leaks and rumors circulating throughout the year.
The Black Flag remake is easily the most anticipated Assassin's Creed game in years, arguably garnering more hype than the most recent mainline entry, Assassin's Creed Shadows. Ubisoft has yet to officially confirm a Black Flag remake, however, so it's important to temper expectations even if all signs point to it happening.
It Could Be The Win Ubisoft Needs Right Now
Concerns over the future of Ubisoft as a company heightened in recent weeks as their stock was halted suddenly and a corresponding financial update was delayed. Further, the company's financials haven't been very promising, and various IPs have not performed to expectations, not to mention rounds of layoffs that have raised eyebrows across the industry.
A Black Flag remake could very well be the first big win for Ubisoft in a long time, though it's hard to imagine one successful title solving all its problems. Regardless, an Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag remake would be hugely popular among players considering it was done well and did more than simply update graphic fidelity. Fans are hopeful for a true overhaul of the game that captures the essential Black Flag experience on modern platforms.
