Arrow fans will have a sad day ahead in December, as a new update about the DC show's streaming future proves disappointing. Stephen Amell's Arrow has become one of the most popular live-action DC TV shows of all time. That is deserved. After all, Arrow did birth an entire shared universe, the Arrowverse, which had a successful run for over a decade.
Arrow's 8 seasons came to an end on January 28, 2020. After that, the Arrowverse as a whole bowed out with Grant Gustin's The Flash season 9. While the Arrowverse is no more, it remains a strong performer on streaming. New fans have discovered the DC shows over the years, with old fans rewatching, but they will soon have to do it elsewhere.

Arrow will be leaving Netflix on December 18. The first season of the DC series became available on the streaming service in October 2014. Since then, more Arrowverse shows have also been added to the streamer, with the shared universe posting solid viewership numbers. According to a 2023 report, Arrow posted 159.7 million hours watched on Netflix in the second semester of the year.
Arrow's numbers were surpassed by those of Gustin's The Flash, which grew beyond the DC franchise's original show to become the Arrowverse's most popular series. The Flash had 311 million hours watched on Netflix for the same period. While Arrow took second place, it is still clear that the show had a positive impact on the streaming service, leaving fans disappointed by the move.
Why You Should Watch Arrow Before It Leaves Netflix
With Arrow set to leave Netflix next month, anyone who has not yet started the DC show must do so before the time comes for it to leave the streamer. Arrow is one of the most influential superhero series due to all the work it did to create what ended up being a more successful shared universe for DC than the theatrical attempt with the DCEU.
Arrow's first couple of seasons are nearly perfect. Deathstroke makes for a personal and terrifying villain, the Queen family is shrouded in secrets, and Oliver Queen has a mission in the present that has to do with his mysterious past, which the show unravels with each new episode. Arrow is a darker DC series with a hero who kills.
As the seasons went by, Arrow did falter at times, especially when it tried to find its footing with a larger roster of heroes. Still, Arrow's core cast always remained entertaining, with great fight scenes and plenty of emotional moments. Arrow shows that a more grounded superhero series can exist in a full-on comic book world, making it a must-watch.
