Back in October, the Pro Football Hall of Fame released a list of 128 candidates for their 2026 class of inductees, and on Tuesday, they trimmed that list down to 26 semifinalists.
On that list on semifinalists is former San Francisco 49ers running back Frank Gore, who is in his first year of eligibility. Fred Taylor is the only other running back in the group, and he was a finalist for the 2025 class.

He spent 10 seasons in San Francisco, making five Pro Bowls and one All-Pro team while rushing for 11,073 yards and 64 touchdowns on 4.5 yards per attempt. He went on to play six more seasons in the NFL with the Indianapolis Colts, Miami Dolphins, Buffalo Bills and New York Jets before transitioning to a role as football advisor for the 49ers in 2023.
In his career, Gore rushed for 16,000 yards and 81 touchdowns on 4.3 yards per attempt. He also caught 484 passes for an additional 3,985 yards and 18 scores.
Gore currently ranks third all-time in rushing yards behind Hall of Famers Emmitt Smith and Walter Payton, and he's tied for 20th in rushing touchdowns with Ottis Anderson.
The group will be trimmed down to finalists in the near future before the class is announced at the NFL honors.
