The Power Rangers reboot appears set to end after just sixteen issues, bringing the team’s latest experimental chapter to a close, while calling its future into question. After several strong years for Boom! Studios’ Rangers comics, where the franchise is headed next suddenly feels uncertain. One thing that seems certain is that the Prime Rangers will be saying goodbye.

Penguin’s advanced synopsis for Power Rangers Prime #15, written by Melissa Flores, with art by Federico Sorressa, describes the issue as “the penultimate,” suggesting the next issue will serve as a finale.

It is disappointing news for Prime fans, but not a huge shock, as the series never seemed to find its footing in the new version of Angel Grove.

The Ambitious Reboot Never Fully Got Going

Power Rangers Prime debuted just over a year ago, in November 2024. It arrived several months after July’s Power Rangers: Darkest Hour #1, which served as the series finale for Boom! Studios’ longrunning Rangers comic series, which lasted over 120 issues and was considered one of the standout “IP” comics of the past several years.

Boom’s previous Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers was a canon continuation of the original series. Prime, meanwhile, was a full-scale reboot of the franchise, with entirely new characters, set on a version of Earth ruled by a conquering alien civilization. It was an ambitious direction to take Rangers comics in; arguably, Prime never lived up to its full potential.

Power Rangers Prime has suffered from pacing issues from the jump. Whereas a Rangers fan could jump right into the MMRP series, with its familiar characters and iconography, Prime has had to do this from the ground up. Apparently, it hasn’t been able to get enough readers invested to keep it going.

Power Rangers Prime #15 is scheduled for release in March 2026. Here is the official synopsis:

The LEGION RAVAGER has arrived!

In this penultimate chapter of the Prime Power Rangers’ adventures, our heroes must fight for their lives against a dangerous new villain who miiiiiiight just be a familiar face to fans of the Zeo Rangers…

As tensions rise and family bonds reach a breaking point, the Prime Rangers are tested as never before. Will they find courage in the face of a galactic threat to fight for each other and their home?

That would put the last issue of the series on shelves in April. Beyond that, it is unclear what the next step is for Rangers comics. One option, of course, would be to reverse the decision to end MMRP and return to the franchise’s main canon.

It is possible Prime continues in some way, either under another name, or in a renumbered, rebranded form. Yet if sixteen issues is all the reboot series gets, it will be remembered as a potentially great, and novel addition to the Power Rangers franchise that was cut off before it fully had a chance to pay off.
