We are on the edge of our seats as we await one of the biggest matchups of the year for the Bucs as they get ready for the Rams. The teams will kick off in primetime in Week 12 as it matches up former teammates Baker Mayfield and Matthew Stafford.
What better way to get to know a unique opponent than to go behind enemy lines and discuss the matchup with Rams Wire?

Q: Matthew Stafford is playing at an MVP level in his 17th year. What is the difference now for him?
A: It’s hard to pinpoint one specific thing that’s made the difference for him, but he’s taking great care of the football and taking what the defense gives him. He’s not forcing balls into tight windows with reckless abandon like he has in years past, but rather hitting the open receiver no matter who it is. He’s spread the ball around much more in recent weeks, too, after feeding Puka Nacua and Davante Adams heavily early in the season.
Q: The Bucs have struggled with running backs who work well in space and in the receiving game. Which one is most likely to rip Tampa Bay between Kyren Williams and Blake Corum?
A: Williams. Corum has struggled as a receiver this season, dropping several passes and looking uncomfortable at times when asked to help in the passing game. Williams isn’t a dynamic receiver by any means, but he picks up the tough yards and breaks tackles by cornerbacks in the open field. I wouldn’t expect a heavy dosage of running back receptions, but if anyone hurts the Bucs, it’s Williams.

A: Now that the unit is healthy, really well. Stafford has had plenty of time in the pocket, and the run game is operating well, too. The Rams will be without RT Rob Havenstein for four weeks after putting him on IR, but the entire line has played really well this season, particularly with Coleman Shelton taking over as the starting center.
Q: Who is going to be the biggest x-factor on the Rams in Week 12?
A: I’ll say Davante Adams. He’s by no means a sleeper or anything, but he’s coming off a game where he caught one pass on eight targets for 1 yard. I think he and Stafford will get back on the same page this week and take advantage of a Bucs secondary that’s without Jamel Dean.

A: Give me the Rams. They’re the healthier, more complete team right now, and their pass rush could really impact the Buccaneers and throw off the rhythm of the offense. Plus, the Rams’ passing game should get back on track after a tough week against a great Seahawks defense. Rams 31, Bucs 23.
