Brands can't support products forever, but as long as they deliver new software updates, there's always something to look forward to. Not only do these updates provide security enhancements, but they can also make an old device feel new, with the introduction of additional features.

Samsung's had a pretty good track record with updates to its products, with some of its newer devices getting up to seven years of coverage. And while Android 16 via Samsung's One UI 8 hits phones, the brand's smartwatches have also been getting a One UI 8 refresh as well.

Might not be available in your region quite yet

This time, the update is rolling out to some of Samsung's most popular smartwatches, the Galaxy Watch 6 and Watch 6 Classic. The report comes from GSMArena, sharing that the update is now available to those in South Korea (via 9to5Google). Naturally, this is usually the way things go, with Samsung rolling out updates in its home country first, before making them available in other regions.

The good news is that at least you're no longer in the dark, and you won't have to wait long to update your watch to One UI 8. The update is a pretty major one, bringing new health features. Some of the highlights of the update include: Running Coach, Antioxidant Index, Vascular Load, and more. The update also introduces support for the Now Bar, along with performance tweaks.

For the most part, it's an update that you should look forward to. We've seen this update also hit the Galaxy Watch 7 recently, arriving in mid-October. The update is currently being tested for the Galaxy Watch 5, and there's been no news for the Galaxy Watch 4. Sadly, we don't think the update will arrive for the latter model, missing its update window that closed in August.

Those in supported regions can give this update a try by heading into the Settings menu of the watch, and diving into the Software section and finding the update page. You can also search for this update using the Galaxy app on your phone as well. Again, it's only available in South Korea for now, so if you're in another location, you'll have to be patient. But we don't think it'll take long to go global.
