The Alabama Crimson Tide defeated Eastern Illinois, 56-0, at Bryant-Denny Stadium on Saturday.
The Alabama offense accumulated eight total rushing touchdowns throughout the contest, as the Tide's ground game was no match for the EIU defense. Ty Simpson struggled during the first half despite Alabama's rushing success, with Simpson throwing for a total of 147 yards and two interceptions during the first half of play. Star tight end Josh Cuevas was unable to play following a foot injury suffered earlier in the week during practice, but the Alabama offense thrived despite missing Cuevas and other top playmakers.

Head coach Kalen DeBoer was able to share a small update on Cuevas' status following the win, as the senior is expected to take things day by day in regard to his availability next weekend in Auburn.
"We'll just kind of have to see how he comes along here during the week next week," DeBoer stated.
Cuevas could play a crucial role in next weekend's Iron Bowl should he prove to be healthy enough to play. The dynamic tight end has been a top target at Ty Simpson's disposal for the majority of the season, as Cuevas currently has a total of 341 yards on the year along with four touchdowns. Marshall Pritchett and Kaleb Edwards could emerge as top candidates to start at tight end should Cuevas remained sidelined, as the Tide will need to be at their absolute best throughout all four quarters of next weekend's contest.
Alabama will travel to Auburn next weekend to face the Tigers at 6:30 p.m. CT, as the Tide will look to clinch a playoff spot and potentially earn the right to play in the SEC Championship.
