Nov. 22—BROOKINGS — South Dakota State dominated Summit League volleyball this year so it's no surprise that the Jackrabbits dominated the postseason awards announced by the conference on Saturday.
Outside hitter Sylvie Zgonc was named Summit League player of the year for the second consecutive year, while Dan Georgalas also repeated as coach of the year.
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementZgonc headlines four Jackrabbits to earn Summit League all-first team honors, joined by middle blockers Madison Burr and Sydni Schetnan and setter Rylee Martin.
Outside hitter Hannah Klein was named to the all-freshman team.
The USD Coyotes, who finished in second place in the Summit, were also well-represented on the honor roll.
Kamryn Farris earned her second consecutive defensive player of the year award, while Farris and Lauren Medeck were both named to the conference first team.
Morgan Bode, Avery Van Hook and Amanda Loschen were picked for the second team, while USD's Aya Ball was named to the all-freshman team.
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementSDSU went undefeated in Summit League play this year, the first team to do that since 2019. The Jacks, 22-3, host the Summit League tournament Sunday-through-Tuesday at First Bank & Trust Arena.
