Bournemouth fought back from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 against West Ham in the driving rain at the Vitality Stadium on Saturday, and Andoni Iraola's side should have won.

Callum Wilson had West Ham cruising as he scored two great goals in the first half against his former club. But Bournemouth surged back into the game as Marcus Tavernier's penalty kick made it 2-1, then Enes Unal jumped off the bench to make it 2-2. West Ham then had Alphonse Areola to thank for grabbing them a point, as he made several fine saves late on as Bournemouth couldn't believe they didn't win this game.

With the point Bournemouth move on to 19 points, while West Ham have 11 points and sit just outside the relegation zone.

Cherries have the potential for a top six finish

Andoni Iraola was pulling his hair out on the sidelines on Saturday. His team absolutely battered West Ham for the majority of the game but didn't defend properly on a couple of occasions and were 2-0 down at the break. He didn't panic and his team kept on doing the same thing. Press, cross and crash into the box. Bournemouth's wasteful nature in front of goal isn't a new thing but it cost them two points on Saturday. If Iraola's side really want to achieve something special this season, and they can, they have to finish off chances when they arrive. Enes Unal coming from injury will help with that and Bournemouth need to keep hold of Antoine Semenyo as transfer reports around him grow. The fact they played this well against West Ham without their star Semenyo shows how much potential they have and their dreams of a first-ever European campaign should be close to becoming a reality.

What’s next?

Bournemouth head to Sunderland next Saturday, while West Ham host Liverpool next Sunday.

Areola makes a superb save! Then a few more!

Bournemouth so close to going 3-2 up. Areola denies Evanilson, then Tavernier smashes the rebound over the bar. He then makes another great stop before denying Unal. It is all Bournemouth.

Enes Unal equalizes!

He is straight off the bench and turns superbly and finishes to make it 2-2. What a ball from Senesi. What a moment! After so long out injured, Enes Unal comes up big. Bournemouth will fancy their chances of winning this now.

What a save from Areola!

Bournemouth looked certain to score, as they carve West Ham open with a lovely move. Kroupi Junior is in and his shoot looks certain to go in, but Areola reacts superbly and somehow gets a slight touch on it as he was going the wrong way. What a save. West Ham can't get out of their own box. Bournemouth are all over them.

Penalty to Bournemouth! Tavernier scores!

After great work from Alex Jimenez, Evanilson is played in and is about to shoot. But then Kilman slides in and knocks the ball away with his hand in the box. Clear penalty, and Tavernier scores it. Game on with just over 20 minutes to go.

Wilson with a lovely hooked finish to make it 2-0!

A free kick is kept alive by West Ham really well as it's flicked on twice and Wilson then hooks home a superb volley. Wilson has his and West Ham's second of the game and he refuses to celebrate in front of his former fans. Wilson's on a hat trick 35 minutes in! Bournemouth have had so much possession but West Ham have been ruthless. Proper Nuno-ball.

Wilson scores! It had to be him!

Callum Wilson scores against his former club to give West Ham an early lead. Brilliant chest control and he drills it at goal from distance. Petrovic should do better as the ball squirms under him. After his eye-raising comments in the week about getting in the England squad for the 2026 World Cup, Wilson keeps his good recent form going.

Bournemouth lineup

Petrovic; Cook, Senesi, Diakite, Truffert; Adams, Scott; Brooks, Kroupi Junior, Tavernier; Evanilson

West Ham lineup

Areola; Todibo, Kilman, Igor; Wan-Bissaka, Potts, Fernandes, Diouf; Bowen, Wilson, Guilherme

Bournemouth vs West Ham preview

The Cherries went into the international break wearing their first consecutive Premier League losses of the season, respective 3-1 and 4-0 setbacks at Manchester City and Aston Villa. The losses sunk Andoni Iraola's men into ninth place of the Premier League's muddled early top-four fight, and they'll see their Week 12 match as a chance to climb back up the table.

Nuno Espirito Santo has marshaled West Ham United into their first back-to-back Premier League wins since February. The Irons scored three goals in a pair of home wins over Newcastle United and Burnley. They had been so poor before that point, however, that West Ham still sit inside the bottom three on goal differential behind 17th-place Burnley. However, they're just three points off 14th and seven back of 10th.

Bournemouth vs West Ham prediction

Nuno Espirito Santo will continue to bring steadiness to West Ham’s structure and play, but he can’t manufacture the necessary quality to find level-footing at Bournemouth. They have a punchers’ chance but we’ll bet on the team with the fists and the footwork. Bournemouth 2-0 West Ham.
