The second round of the Florida High School high school playoffs continued for Palm Beach County teams on Friday night, though that didn't overshadow the first Sunshine State Athletic Association state title victory in 10 years for one local team.
Several teams battled it out in shootout fashion, while others let their defense do the talking.

FHSAAClass 7AWest Nassau 56, Spanish River 42

A battered Spanish River offense (injuries to Jacorrion McCrary, Jayden Elder, Derek Goulbourne, Micah Smalls, and others) hampered the team, though the Sharks fought back from a huge deficit to keep the score respectable.

Class 6AWest Boca Raton 48 East Lake 7
Bulls running back Javian Mallory, making up for missing last year’s state title run with an injury, ran 18 times for 205 yards and three touchdowns.
The defense that has allowed 88 points total in 12 games held East Lake to negative-4 rushing yards at halftime and six first downs for the game.
Class 5AMcArthur 17, Atlantic 16
Atlantic quarterback Pedro Martinez (15) passes during the first half against McArthur on Nov. 11, 2025, in Delray Beach, FL.McArthur jumped out to a 17-0 lead, and while Atlantic has come back from dire straits before, that comeback was to fall short on Friday night.
The Eagles managed 16 straight points in the second half, including a touchdown pass from Pedro Martinez to Mark Hanniford, but a blocked extra point would loom large in the one-point loss.

Taj Barnes connected with Rashawn Nembhard in a final-minute drive situation, the catalyst for some near-heroics at the end of the game as Glades Central searched for a tying score.
Ultimately a pair of second-half interceptions by Lakewood's Vontaevious Ducksworth spelled the end of the rally.
Madreion Blackmon caught a touchdown in the loss.
Class 1ACardinal Newman 45, Community School of Naples 14

AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementJayvian Tanelus carried 25 times for 243 yards to surpass the 2,000-yard mark for the season for CSN, but it was nowhere near enough to stop Newman's lead from growing.
The Crusaders allowed a 20-0 lead to shrink to 20-14 at halftime before blowing things open in the second half.
RuralPahokee 17, Taylor County 7
Taylor County did not make things easy on the Blue Devils.
The Bulldogs forced three turnovers and blanked Pahokee for the first half of football before the Blue Devils turned things around in the second half.
Pahokee made their own defensive plays, blanking Taylor County all second half en route to the victory.

Marcus Stracke accounted for four total touchdowns (three passing, one rushing), while Shane Kleeblatt had a stellar game in both special teams and defense, leading the Stallions to a barn-burner victory.
The Stallions held off West Nassau's second-half comeback to win the program's first state championship in a decade after falling in the state semifinals last season.
