RIDGELAND — Trae'kerrion Collins took an early chance on Ole Miss football.
Collins committed to the Rebels on May 11 when he was a sophomore. And amid the chaos of Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin's future, the Ridgeland junior safety said he is paying closer attention to the Titans (11-1) as they seek their first MHSAA football state championship.

The reason for an early commitment? Collins said the Rebels have a talented program and that the player he idolized most, NFL defensive back Trey Amos, is an Ole Miss alum.

"It's good," Collins said. "They keep supporting me while I'm in my junior year. And I'm supporting them, while they're on their journey, going for the national championship."

Ole Miss announced that Kiffin will coach in the Egg Bowl as the No. 6 Rebels (10-1, 6-1 SEC) face Mississippi State (5-6, 1-6) on Nov. 28 (11 a.m. CT, ABC). But a decision will be made the following day, whether Kiffin stays or departs from Oxford.
Collins is a four-star recruit in the 2027 class and the No. 11 player in Mississippi and No. 34 safety, according to 247Sports Composite. He has produced 52 tackles and five interceptions this season.
