According to a report by NFL reporter Dianna Russini, the San Francisco 49ers are looking to see if they can void the guaranteed money from his contract, so that they can release him without a massive financial burden. Aiyuk was a player many Pittsburgh Steelers fans wanted the team to trade for but after all of what has transpired since he signed his 4-year, $120 million contract, worth $30 million per year and $76 million guaranteed, the Steelers want no part of him.

One of the biggest moves the Steelers made in this past offseason was to trade away wide receiver George Pickens. This was despite Pickens' elite talent. For the team is was addition by subtraction, getting rid of a player who didn't want to be on the team and they believed wasn't talented enough to tolerate the baggage.

There's no way after that the Steelers would invite that sort of trouble again. This is despite the fact that Pickens is having a huge season, and his replacement, DK Metcalf, has played much worse. If the Steelers want to address wide receiver in free agency in the offseason, there are guys like Alec Pierce and Romeo Doubs are both set to hit the market and would be much safer options.
