Olivier Rioux is on the board.
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementThe Florida Gators' 7-foot-9 basketball player has scored his first college point.
The tally came Friday night, late in the Gators' blowout victory over Merrimack.
With Florida in the bonus, Rioux posted up in the lane surrounded by a couple players, and their only possible means of stopping him was to foul.
That sent Rioux to the line. And he cashed in a free throw.
Rioux is in his second season on campus.
As a true freshman, he didn't play. He did go viral for the way he could cut down championship nets without a ladder.
Rioux got into game action already this season in garbage time but hadn't scored until Friday.

But it's a notable accomplishment for the tallest college basketball player to score, no matter the style points.
Rioux has scored now, and he can set his sights on what's next.
