Give me a lighthearted recap
Following two of the best seasons of television on Prime Video, controversy struck the fantasy series Good Omens as sexual assault allegations were leveled at series co-creator and executive producer Neil Gaiman, who has denied the claims. This understandably cast a shadow of doubt over the chance of the promised third season ever making it to air, with co-star Michael Sheen even saying back in June, "I really don’t know what’s going to happen with it." He added, "I hope people get to see it, but that, to a large extent, is out of our hands."
Well, thankfully, it seems that the once six-episode third season, now turned into one long final episode, will make its way to our screens. Following a cast and crew screening, Sheen responded to a post on X saying, "Hear that? No nightingales yet, but another little bird is singing about a cast and crew screening of Good Omens 3 that took place last night." Sheen said in response, "So this is a big bird saying - we had a screening last night. I laughed and I cried," confirming that, not only did the screening definitely take place, but it was impressive enough to move the actor to tears. Sheen added:
"There’ll be bits you absolutely love and there’ll be things you’ll argue about of course. It should have been 6 episodes but it’s not. Thank God for what it is. Brilliantly directed, beautiful performances, fantastic new looks, incredible work all round. And there’s nightingales."
What Do We Know About the 'Good Omens' Finale?
Originally meant to be a six-episode final season, Good Omens 3 is now going to be a single 90-minute special episode ready to wrap up the cliffhangers from Season 2, including the romantic turn for Aziraphale (Sheen) and Crowley (David Tennant). Although Gaiman was involved in the writing of the episode, neither he nor his production company, Blank Corporation, was involved in production. Ahead of the finale, you can catch both Seasons 1 and 2 on Prime Video now.
