The MCU Is Officially Fixing Its Biggest Loki Problem In Avengers: Doomsday

Loki will be back in the Marvel Cinematic Universe next year, and his Avengers: Doomsday return will finally fix the one problem related to Tom Hiddleston's character that has been going on for multiple years. Loki season 2's ending could have served as the perfect finale for the character. Truth be told, Loki did not need to return in any upcoming MCU projects.

After all, he saved the multiverse, becoming its protector for all time. That said, it was a bittersweet ending, as Loki had to be alone forever to keep those he loved and everyone else safe. Loki deserved a happier ending, so I can understand why Hiddleston was confirmed for Avengers: Doomsday's cast. With his new MCU role, a major Loki problem can be fixed.

The MCU's original Loki went through a lot, going from the first villain the Avengers fought to a hero who died in front of his brother, Thor, while trying to kill Thanos. Avengers: Endgame then debuted a Loki variant from a different timeline, one where he escaped after the Battle of New York. That is the character we follow in Disney+'s Loki.

While this new version of Loki has also gone through a lot, leaving villainy behind to become the protector of the multiverse, the MCU has yet to provide the meeting that every Marvel fan is waiting for. The TV show Loki has yet to meet Chris Hemsworth's Thor onscreen, with the God of Thunder not knowing that a version of Loki is alive.

Marvel Studios will officially fix that problem in 2026. After all, both Loki and Thor have been confirmed for the cast of Avengers: Doomsday, with Hemsworth and Hiddleston reuniting onscreen in the next Avengers movie. This will mark the first time that the actors appear together as their MCU characters in 7 years, and Marvel recently made the event even better.

At a recent Disney event in Italy, Captain America's team for Avengers: Doomsday was confirmed. According to the reveal, Sam Wilson will seemingly lead a new Avengers team that includes Thor, Loki, Shang-Chi, Falcon, and Ant-Man. As such, the Asgardian brothers will work together as members of the Avengers for the first time in MCU history.

There could not be a better fix to the lack of Thor and Loki in the MCU. It also serves as the best way to bring back Loki after his Disney+ series gave him a fitting ending. Having Loki come full circle, going from the Avengers' first villain to an Avenger, is a worthy addition to his story, making Avengers: Doomsday more exciting.
