Summary: Colman-Brusa has been a one-man wrecking crew for years now at Kennedy Catholic. Possessing a rare blend of speed and power, he is able to beat opposing OL in a variety of ways to create havoc in the backfield. He is extremely well built at 6’5 267 Lbs. and will likely play everywhere along the DL due to his skillset and versatility.

High School: Kennedy Catholic (Burien, WA)

Recruiting Ranking: DCB is rated as the 126th overall player in the nation, 17th rated edge rusher, and the top player in the state of Washington.

The Recruitment: Despite having his brother Lowen on the team, it was never a slam dunk for Derek to join him on Montlake. He was strongly considering Ohio State and Oregon for a long time and at UW was believed to be running in third place for awhile. In the end, his brother being on the team, his parents being long time Husky fans, and his relationship with coach Jason Kaufusi won the day and Derek committed to stay home for his college career.

Roster Impact: There isn’t anyone on the roster like DCB and that could definitely lead to early playing time. There will be multiple open starting roles and he will likely be in serious discussions for landing one of them. For a team that is 99th in the nation in sacks, DCB should bring a huge infusion of talent and desire. At the very least he should crack the two deeps as a true freshman.

Senior Season Stats: DCB was injured and did miss some time, but still finished the season with 22.5 tackles, 9 TFL, 4 sacks, 2 FFs, and 1 blocked field goal.
