Clemson wrapped up signing day with one fewer player than expected, finishing the cycle with 19 additions instead of the anticipated 20. The change came after Kaden Gebhardt, a highly regarded safety from Olentangy in Ohio, chose to sign with Ohio State. His switch gives the Buckeyes another in-state standout and removes a piece Clemson had counted on for months.
Gebhardt had been part of Clemson’s class since the spring, but his decision leaves the Tigers with only one true safety aligned with this group. Earlier in the year, the program had three players committed at that spot before Blake Stewart stepped away from his pledge in October.

Even so, that number is still modest compared to what’s happening nationally, where hundreds of prospects have changed their plans. Programs such as Florida State and South Carolina have handled far more movement over the same stretch, and Clemson saw more turnover than this a year ago.
According to 247Sports, Gebhardt sits among the top safeties in his class and is considered one of Ohio’s best overall players. His high school production backs it up, with more than a hundred tackles as a senior and a career that included more than four hundred stops and double-digit interceptions.
