Even amidst Nottingham Forest’s turbulent start to the campaign, Elliot Anderson has continued his stellar form.

That’s why the midfielder is set to become one of the most sought-after stars in England when the end of the season rolls around, with the likes of Manchester United, Manchester City and Newcastle United all setting their sights on a deal for the player.

Of the trio, it’s likely the Magpies will be priced out of a move, with Forest ready to demand upwards of £100 million to sanction Anderson’s exit – just two years after signing him from Newcastle for £35 million.

Anderson himself, who hails from Whitley Bay in North Tyneside, may favour a return to his boyhood club, having been spotted in Newcastle’s end at the Carabao Cup final last season celebrating their historic trophy win.

Ultimately, though, it’ll depend on which side are able to meet Forest’s price tag, and the two Manchester clubs will be preparing to put their money where their mouths are.

One report from Manchester World reporter Rich Fay yesterday claimed the Red Devils would even be willing to break their £89m club record fee to facilitate the arrival of the 23-year-old next summer – and it’s no wonder why.

Amid their search for a versatile and tactically-intelligent addition in the middle of the park, they’ve come to the conclusion that Anderson fits the bill.

In the top flight this term, the six-capped England international has won possession a whopping 111 times – 34 times more than second-placed Iliman Ndiaye.
