If you follow Vanderbilt football’s recruiting at all, you likely knew the Commodores were in hot pursuit of Curtis who plays his high school football at Nashville Christian. He is ranked either #1 (Rivals/On3 and ESPN) or #3 (247) among passers in the 2026 class. He is unanimously the best player in the state of Tennessee for this class. Nationally, he is ranked either #3 or #5 out of every high school senior.
The full court press Vanderbilt applied extended from multiple campus visits in recent months to Nate Bargatze making a plea to Curtis during College GameDay to Tim Corbin going to at least one Nashville Christian game. During all of this, Curtis was committed to the Georgia Bulldogs. That commitment was reportedly given in March of 2024 before he backed off in October of 2024 then re-affirming his intention to be a Bulldog in May of 2025. Today, one day before he will officially sign with a college program, the bombshell dropped that Vanderbilt’s efforts would be rewarded.

Today, it was announced by numerous national recruiting experts that they had been informed by Curtis of his decision to sign with Vanderbilt including the most prominent recruiting graphics maker Hayes Fawcett of Rivals/On3.
However, minutes later Curtis would take to social media to play down the reporting. He stated that he had not talked to either school yet to make the final commitment. Then, moments ago, he gave the full story and announced his ultimate decision.
After the roller coaster of flipped then maybe not then flipped for sure, it will be interesting to see if more elite recruits join the new QB1 on West End.
