Pep Guardiola has issued a brilliant reaction to reporters following Manchester City’s enthralling 4-5 win away to Fulham on Tuesday night.

City’s latest Premier League outing proved to be a whirlwind of chaos, entertainment, and nerve-shredding tension as Guardiola’s men were forced to battle against a spirited Fulham comeback.

A night that should have ended in comfort for the Catalan coach instead unfolded into one of the most dramatic games of the season, with Erling Haaland rewriting history and Phil Foden continuing his electric form in front of goal.

The contest had begun in ideal fashion for City, with Haaland firing home his 100th Premier League goal after just 17 minutes, becoming the fastest player in history to reach the century. His link-up play throughout the first half was just as valuable, setting up Tijjani Reijnders before Foden added City’s third – seemingly putting the contest beyond doubt.

But Fulham’s response was fiery, with Emile Smith Rowe’s header sparking a rally that energised the Craven Cottage crowd. City looked to have restored control early in the second half, extending their lead to 5-1 as Jeremy Doku’s effort deflected in, yet the hosts mounted an incredible late surge.

Alex Iwobi and a rapid-fire double from Samuel Chukwueze transformed the match into a frantic chase to the finish line. Craven Cottage roared Fulham on for an equaliser, and only a desperate late clearance from Josko Gvardiol prevented City from dropping points.

Entering into his post-match press conference, Pep Guardiola was keen to issue an immediate reaction to the 90 minutes that had preceded, as he exclaimed to reporters, “Did you enjoy guys? Nice, huh?!”

When asked by one journalist whether he himself had enjoyed the contest, Guardiola said, “Me?! My god! I lost my hair! My god!”

Looking over the match in more detail, Pep Guardiola said, “I know you’re going to ask what happened – I don’t have an answer! It’s the Premier League, right? Football is emotions.

“All the goals were bad defending on the edge, we went so deep to defend these crosses, we have to occupy the spaces better. But we made incredibly good things, against how difficult that team is.

“Scoring the goals we scored, with quality, the way we defended – but after, Erling [Haaland] had chance to make it 6-3, a minute later 5-4! When that happens, it’s a question of surviving. Don’t ask me how, the players don’t know either, you need luck – and at the end we take it!”

Before leaving the press conference, Guardiola brilliantly closed, “At 5-1, you [the journalists] start to write articles for tomorrow, ‘MANCHESTER CITY IS BACK’, these kind of things. And after, into the trash, and start again!”

The Manchester City manager will no doubt demand a more controlled performance in their upcoming matches, especially with Arsenal continuing to set the pace at the top of the table.

The thrilling nature of the win also underscores the growing reliance on Foden and Haaland, who continue to drag City through even the most unpredictable situations. With the title race tightening, Guardiola may look to rotate more heavily or adjust his tactical structure to restore stability.
