The Houston Rockets are signing Tyler Smith to a two-way contract slot, which they opened by waiving Kevon Harris. The news was first reported by Jake Fischer of The Stein Line.
A 6-foot-9, 224-pound forward, Smith was drafted by Milwaukee at No. 33 overall in the 2024 second round. Now 21 years old, he’s played only sparingly at the NBA level to this point.

Meanwhile, Harris is a 6-foot-5 wing who has averaged 19.4 points (45.8% FG, 38.2% on 3-pointers, 69.2% on free throws) and 6.5 rebounds with the 2025-26 Rio Grande Valley (RGV) Vipers, Houston's G League affiliate.
At 28 years old, Harris is several years older than Smith, so the latter could have more long-term developmental potential. That could be a better fit for a team such as the Rockets (13-5), which is well-stocked at the NBA level, as is.
For the time being, Smith joins JD Davison and Isaiah Crawford as the current recipients of Houston’s three two-way allotments. The two-way designation effectively allows each player to shuttle back and forth between the NBA parent club and its G League developmental affiliate.
