Rapper Toosii, whose real name is Nau'Jour Grainger, announced his commitment to play college football for Syracuse University
Grainger, who was born in Syracuse but moved to North Carolina, wrote, "'Cuse, I'm coming home" in his announcement on X

Rapper Toosii is putting his music career on hold to pursue his dream of playing football.
Toosii, whose real name is Nau'Jour Grainger, announced on Monday, Dec. 1 that he's officially committed to play football next year at Syracuse University in New York.
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementThe "Champs-Élysées" rapper, 25, wrote on X, "COMMITTED," with a prayer hands emoji to begin his post. "For every kid who ever had a dream, make it reality," he continued.
Grainger credited his faith for "giving me the strength to chase what I believed when so many people told me I couldn't."
"Thank you to the people who supported me as well, it never go unnoticed," he wrote. "To be born in Syracuse and move to North Carolina at age 12 and haven’t been back since. When Coach Fran called, I knew it was a sign from God. So with that being said, Cuse I’m coming home," adding an orange emoji in a nod to their mascot.

Excited for you," and another calling it a "major accomplishment," but some fans were skeptical about how well the 25-year-old musician would match up against other college football players.

Toosii performs on Jan. 22, 2025One fan jokingly compared Grainger to Zac Efron's High School Musical character Troy Bolton, replying to the post on X with a gif of Efron doing a dance with a basketball. "Bro at halftime," the fan wrote.
Before turning his focus to college football, Grainger enjoyed a budding music career after his song "Love Cycle" went viral in 2020. His 2023 hit "Favorite Song" became popular on TikTok and he's collaborated with other big artists like 21 Savage and Gunna.

A week before Grainger announced his commitment to Syracuse, he seemingly teased the decision in a post on X, writing, "I’ll never forget where I came. 315," with an orange emoji.
