Mark Wahlberg’s new crime thriller is set to fade from streaming charts soon, but it just made history on its way out. Wahlberg stars alongside LaKeith Stanfield in Play Dirty, the heist movie following an expert thief and his ragtag crew who stumble upon the heist of a lifetime. Play Dirty has been streaming on Prime Video since October 1, but it remains at #9 on global streaming charts. However, news broke yesterday that Play Dirty is officially one of Prime Video’s top 10 biggest movies of all time. The film hit 57 million views during its first month on the platform.

Shane Black wrote and directed Play Dirty with help from Anthony Bagarozzi on the script. MCU star Robert Downey Jr. also produced the film along with his wife, Susan Downey. Black and Downey previously worked together on Iron Man 3, and they teamed up before that on Downey’s pre-MCU hit, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. Black is also famous for directing the cult classic comedy movie, The Nice Guys, which stars Russell Crowe and Ryan Gosling. Black has been asked several times about a sequel to The Nice Guys, but he believes the movie would be too expensive for any studio to greenlight.

It’s been a busy year for Play Dirty star Mark Wahlberg, and he isn’t slowing down anytime soon. He opened the year with Flight Risk, the aviation thriller directed by Mel Gibson. His new action sequel, The Family Plan 2, is now streaming on Apple TV. The film sees him reunite with Michelle Monaghan from the first movie, and Game of Thrones veteran Kit Harington has also joined the cast.

Mark Wahlberg Once Teamed Up With Jason Statham

22 years ago, Mark Wahlberg starred alongside Jason Statham in The Italian Job, which is actually a remake of the 1969 Michael Caine classic of the same name. Charlize Theron and the late Donald Sutherland also star in Wahlberg and Statham’s version of the heist thriller, which follows Charlie Coker and his team, who plan an elaborate gold heist against a former ally. The film has been blacklisted from streaming, meaning it is not even available for rent or purchase on VOD platforms such as Prime Video. The 1969 original is still available on VOD after it recently lost its free streaming home.

Be sure to watch Play Dirty on Prime Video and stay tuned to Collider for more streaming updates.
