A major talking point of the Major League Baseball offseason will be trading rumors and conversations surrounding Arizona Diamondbacks second baseman Ketel Marte.
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementIt is known information that Arizona is actively listening on trade offers for its All-Star second baseman. Just last week, we covered a report that indicated the Philadelphia Phillies and Toronto Blue Jays were among the teams interested in Marte.
Tuesday, according to Bob Nightengale, three more teams were revealed as "on the radar" for a Marte trade. Those three teams were the Boston Red Sox, Tampa Bay Rays and Detroit Tigers.
On first though, both Detroit and Tampa Bay already have starting second basemen on their respective rosters in Gleyber Torres and Brandon Lowe. Boston is the only team on the surface that has a definite opening at the position on its current roster.
Both the Rays and Red Sox ranked in the bottom half of the league last season in Wins Above Average from its second basemen. The addition of a career .281/.351/.472 slash line would be a welcome addition to each of those lineups.

Wherever the Marte sweepstakes land, some team will be getting arguably the best second baseman in all of baseball and it would be a major boost to any lineup for 2026 and beyond.
