Tom Holland returns as Spider-Man in Avengers: Doomsday art that shows how the Marvel Cinematic Universe can't let this opportunity pass. Holland's Spider-Man movies are among the MCU's best films, proving themselves box office hits and landing well with critics. That is why Marvel and Sony's deal to share Spider-Man continues for the foreseeable future, forming a successful partnership.
While Spider-Man is Marvel's most popular hero in any medium, Holland was suspiciously absent from the Avengers: Doomsday cast reveal. The announcement did not even include a multiverse variant of Peter Parker, with Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield's Spider-Men nowhere to be seen despite rumors. Now, an artist has imagined what Spider-Man's return in the MCU movie could look like.
On Instagram, @spdrmnkyxxiii shared an MCU concept poster of Tom Holland's Spider-Man in Avengers: Doomsday.
The green color scheme of both the upcoming Avengers movie and its villain, Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom, is present in the image through the background and strands of smoke. Holland's Spider-Man is unmasked, angry, and injured, with blood dripping down his chin and visible cuts. The poster teases Avengers: Doomsday's high stakes.
Why Was Tom Holland's Spider-Man Not Announced For Avengers: Doomsday?
Since his MCU debut in Captain America: Civil War, Tom Holland's Spider-Man has appeared in both of the Avengers movies released by Marvel Studios. In Infinity War, Spider-Man played a sizable role alongside Downey's Iron Man and the team of heroes fighting Thanos on Titan. In Endgame, he returned for the final battle after the Hulk brought back half of the universe.
As such, Spider-Man's absence from the Avengers: Doomsday cast announcement was notable. There could be a few reasons behind it. On the one hand, the events of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which releases a few months before Doomsday, could either take place during the Avengers film or explain why Peter Parker is not available to help the MCU's heroes.

However, Marvel might have only announced the actors that would be shooting during principal photography, with Holland filming his Spider-Man scenes during reshoots, which are scheduled for spring 2026. Spider-Man could also play a limited role in the film, with Marvel trying to avoid spoilers by announcing Holland.
Tom Holland's Spider-Man Needs To Return In Avengers: Doomsday

At the end of the day, not having the MCU's Spider-Man in Avengers: Doomsday would be disappointing. After all, with Robert Downey Jr. playing Doctor Doom, the fact that the villain will have the same face as Iron Man will certainly impact Marvel's heroes. Spider-Man would easily be one of the most impacted, given that Tony Stark was his mentor.
Losing that, and the chance of to see Holland's Spider-Man interacting with the Fantastic Four and Fox's X-Men, makes no sense. That is why I continue to believe that Tom Holland will be back as Spider-Man in Avengers: Doomsday. Whether that happens as a cameo, a supporting role, or a secret main character remains to be seen.
