Harry Potter star Oliver Phelps opened up about introducing the fantasy series to his daughter, including her reaction to seeing her father on screen. Phelps and his twin brother James Phelps made their acting debuts in the very first Harry Potter movie back in 2001.

They went on to appear in the rest of the series as George and Fred Weasley and have stayed involved with the franchise via the theme parks and a competition show on the Food Network. Oliver Phelps has two daughters with his wife Katy Humphage, whom he married in 2015. Autumn and Emilia are now at the age where they're discovering Harry Potter for the first time, and the actor revealed to People how his youngest child reacted to seeing him play George.

He and his family visited Universal Orlando, which is where the original Harry Potter theme park is located. The cast members filmed new footage as their characters for some of the rides and attractions. When Phelps and his family were riding the Hogwarts Express, there came a point when the characters flew in on broomsticks, and his youngest daughter looked back and forth at him and the screen. She asked him questions like, "Dad, why are you there?" and "Why is your hair that color?"

Phelps' oldest daughter, who is 8 years old, is very familiar with Harry Potter because her friends are fans. The actor doesn't want to force her to become a fan too. Instead, "I want her to discover it for herself."

To be honest, my eldest is eight, and she knows, obviously, of Potter. She knows what it is because quite a few friends at school are really into it. But I’ve never pressed it on her. I want her to discover it for herself.

We went on the Hogwarts Express train and [my youngest daughter] was sat next to me when we "fly in" on broomsticks. She sat there looking at me, then looking at the screen, and going, "Dad, why are you there?" It’ll take a while for her to quite work it out. She’s like, "Why is your hair that color?"

Being a father means Phelps can rediscover Harry Potter through a new lens, which he loves, though he has a hard time watching the early films because of how high his voice was. "I can't even pretend I had a deep voice when I was a kid," he joked, adding that it's hard to escape Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone because it airs on TV during the holidays every year, "so everyone always hears it."

It’s probably going to sound silly, but the first time you see the Weasleys at Platform Nine and Three-Quarters. It was the first time you get introduced to the characters, and it was the first time I was ever on film. I hate watching it because my voice is so high. I can’t even pretend I had a deep voice when I was a kid — and it’s on every Christmas, so everyone always hears it.

While most of the Harry Potter cast are not very involved with the franchise anymore, aside from reuniting for Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts, the Phelps twins have stayed close to the series that made them famous. They regularly appear at grand openings, including for the theme parks and the Harry Potter Exhibition.

Both Oliver and James Phelps currently host Harry Potter: Wizards of Baking, a competition series on the Food Network in which contestants create elaborate themed desserts. Teams are eliminated each week until only one pair wins, as decided by judges Carla Hall and Jozef Youssef. Every so often, they're joined by other Potter alums like Bonnie Wright (Ginny Weasley) and Evanna Lynch (Luna Lovegood).

Oliver Phelps isn't the only young cast member from the films who's a parent. Harry Potter actors Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, Wright, Devon Murray, Jessie Cave, Katie Leung, Robert Pattinson, Afshan Azad-Kazi, Scarlett Hefner, Josh Herdman, and Clémence Poésy all have children now after growing up on the sets of Harry Potter.

After hearing about Phelps' experience with introducing Harry Potter to his kids, it wouldn't be surprising if his former co-stars had similar stories of their own.

Harry Potter is a multimedia franchise about an orphaned boy who enrolls at Hogwarts School of Wizardry, where he learns the truth about himself, his family, and the terrible evil that haunts the magical world. Adapted from the novels, Harry Potter is an eight-episode film saga that follows the journey of Harry Potter and his friends, Hermoine Granger and Ron Weasley, as they navigate the tricky world of growing up, school life, and magic. Starting from year one and moving to their seventh year, the films chronicle the students' time at Hogwarts while unfurling a sinister plot that centers around the unsuspecting Harry. With the return of the dark wizard, Voldemort, the students and professors at Hogwarts will fight to carry on as the world around them may change forever. Harry Potter has expanded beyond the world of its films and novels with several video games, a spin-off film series titled Fantastic Beasts, and even attractions at Universal Studios.
