Slow Horses Actor's New Netflix Movie Is the Perfect Watch For The Holidays

Slow Horses is blessed with a mightily talented ensemble cast, but one actor's new Netflix movie is a far cry from assassinations and espionage.

Slow Horses has evolved into one of streaming's best hidden gems over the past three years, now not quite so hidden as it once was. Based on Mick Herron's series of books, the blend of espionage, suspense, and dry humor has turned Slow Horses into a critical darling across its five seasons on Apple TV+ so far.

A major factor in Slow Horses' success has been its impressive ensemble cast, led by especially on-form Gary Oldman. Slow Horses notably highlights screen icons like Jonathan Pryce, Hugo Weaving, and Kristin Scott Thomas, but has equally elevated the careers of younger actors like Jack Lowden and Freddie Fox. It's one of these lesser-known faces currently starring in a modern holiday classic from Netflix.

Why Champagne Problems Is The Perfect Movie To Watch For The Holidays

Released on November 19, 2025, Champagne Problems features Tom Wozniczka in a starring role. Wozniczka has a handful of movie and TV credits to his name, largely productions from his native France. Nevertheless, Wozniczka first came onto the radar of many during Slow Horses season 4, in which he played the assassin Patrice.

From silencer's tight to "Silent Night," Champagne Problems isn't exactly what Tom Wozniczka is best known for at this point, but it is one of the best holiday movies you'll find on Netflix in December 2025.

December is a time of tradition, comfort, and familiarity. In that respect, Champagne Problems feels like a cup of eggnog by a warm fire. Attractive couple meeting in a book store? Check. Awkward misunderstanding between potential lovers? Check. Career-focused individual forced to see what really matters in life? Check. As a rom-com with Christmas as a core theme, Champagne Problems isn't exactly an edgy reinvention of the genre.

At the same time, Champagne Problems is elevated by its impressive European setting, with the action taking place almost entirely in France. Visually speaking, Mark Steven Johnson (director) and José David Montero (cinematographer) wring every drop of beauty from the locale, turning Paris and Château Cassell into characters of their own. The performances are also heartwarmingly genuine, and the cut-and-thrust politics of the wine industry affords the plot more substance than you'll find in similar films over the holiday period.

Where You Recognize Champagne Problems' Other Cast Members From

While Tom Wozniczka plays the handsome love interest in Champagne Problems, the movie is led by Minka Kelly. From Friday Night Lights and Titans to Euphoria and Ransom Canyon, Minka Kelly's versatility has made her familiar to fans of varying genres, but Champagne Problems marks her first attempt at a Christmas movie.

Kelly isn't the only former DC superhero vying for Château Cassell either. Otto is played by Flula Borg, who lasted a few minutes as Javelin in The Suicide Squad before the inevitable happened. Non-superhero fans may also recognize Borg as a member of Das Sound Machine in Pitch Perfect 2.

Finally, Xavier Samuel is the closest thing Champagne Problems has to a "villain," and you might recognize him as Riley, one of Victoria's vampires in The Twilight Saga: Eclipse. Nevertheless, it's Minka Kelly and Slow Horses' Tom Wozniczka who get the bubbles flowing in this slice of festive Netflix joy.
