Jaxson Dart, the Giants’ prized rookie quarterback, will miss a second straight game Sunday in Detroit.

Interim head coach Mike Kafka said before Friday’s practice that Dart remains in the NFL’s concussion protocol.

So it’ll be Jameis Winston starting yet again, with Russell Wilson backing him up.

Dart sustained a concussion two games ago in Chicago, and Wilson replaced him.

Then — after the Giants fired coach Brian Daboll — Kafka went with Winston, and not Wilson, as Dart’s replacement for last week’s loss to the Packers at home.

The 2-9 Giants have lost five straight games. They are 0-1 under Kafka. Their next game after Sunday in Detroit is a Monday night matchup with the Patriots in New England on Dec. 1. Then comes the Giants’ bye week.

But for now, Dart will have to wait to make his eighth NFL start, as he continues to progress through the protocol and recover from his first concussion in the league.

In terms of Dart’s practice participation, he unsurprisingly didn’t practice at all leading up to the Packers game, coming off the concussion in Chicago.

This week, Dart showed progress. So there was perhaps some hope that he could be cleared in time for the Detroit trip. Dart was a limited participant in practice Wednesday and Thursday, when he was designated as a non-contact player both days. (Quarterbacks always are anyway.)

But then, on Friday, Kafka revealed that Dart would sit for a second straight week, as Winston tries to get his first win with the Giants.
