Real Madrid tripped up for a third game in a row in La Liga as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Girona away at Estadi Montilivi on Sunday night.
With no wins in three consecutive matches, the Merengues have yielded the top spot in La Liga to Barcelona, who now have a one-point lead at the top.

RMTV points fingers at referee
Meanwhile, after the match, Real Madrid TV immediately pointed to referee Ricardo De Burgos Bengoetxea as one of the main reasons the team did not win.
“De Burgos has made egregious and unjustifiable errors against Madrid. He’s the individual who has hurt them the most,” the club’s official TV channel said.
Two particular incidents in the game drew the most attention – the first a potential foul on Kylian Mbappe in the buildup to Girona’s goal and the second one a penalty incident involving Rodrygo, which was not awarded and not even reviewed by VAR.

The criticism did not stop there as RMTV pointed out that La Liga was being distorted and Los Blancos were the ones suffering the most from it.
“La Liga is being corrupted. Real Madrid has four points deducted because of the Negreira brothers. De Burgos is one of the referees with the most egregious record against Real Madrid,” they said.
“There’s an irregularity because the VAR team isn’t calling the referee. It happened in Vallecas and it happened in Girona. And it already happened last year when Real Madrid was six points ahead of Barcelona.”
“There was the Espanyol incident, the Pamplona incident… and it’s happened again this year,” they continued.

“And who is the vice president of the Federation? Javier Tebas,” they concluded.
