The Denver Broncos have just found ways to win games this year.

After returning to the playoffs last year, the Broncos now have eight wins before December, with their latest an overtime victory over the Washington Commanders. Denver is tied for the best record in the NFL at 10-2, and currently sits in the drivers seat for the AFC West crown and a first-round bye.

In the process, the Broncos set an NFL record for their prowess in one-score games. Every year involves one or two teams who are able to succeed despite playing in many close games, and Denver represents that organization this season.

After the game, head coach Sean Payton said the team has full belief it can win any game.

"You do believe it can happen. There cannot be that false belief," he said. "We don’t escape. We won."

Additionally, Payton argued that every Super Bowl winner was able to win many close games.

"Pick a Super Bowl team and go look at that season. I can go back through, you begin to build some momentum," he said. "Yeah, there's things you want to clean up. Every once in a while, you roll through it all, but it is a tough league."

Here's a look at the Broncos' success in one-score games this year.

On Sunday night, the Broncos won another game in which they trailed at some point. That is now a nine-game winning streak for the Broncos, as they have trailed in every single one of those games.

By winning nine-straight games in which they've trailed, the Broncos have now set an NFL record for that mark.

In fact, the Broncos have trailed in every single game this year, but have still come away with 10 wins on the season.

Broncos record in one-score games

The Broncos are 10-2 on the season, and they are also 8-2 in one-score games. That comes after a 2024 season in which Denver went 1-6 in one-score games, but were able to go 10-7 on the season overall.

Denver's eight wins in one-score games is the most in the NFL this year. As a result of this, though, Denver has a point differential of 66, which trails eight other teams in the NFL and four other teams in the AFC.
