You have have one of those moments where you learn some celebrity died and your reaction is "Man, I thought they died a long time ago". This is kinda like that.

Sunday the Raiders dropped to 2-10 on the season with their loss to the Chargers. Making what has looked like a foregone conclusion mathematically official -- the Raiders will not be making the playoffs this year.

The Raiders were already assured a losing season at 2-9. But their loss in Los Angeles assures they have no chance at securing a playoff spot and thus have only pride to play for the rest of the way.

This season has not been anything close to what anyone had hoped or expected under new head coach Pete Carroll. The 74-year-old has a long established career as a head coach that included two trips to the Super Bowl with one title and two National Championships at the collegiate level as well. And he made Chip Kelly the highest paid offensive coordinator in the NFL.

Well, the offense has been a disgrace, Kelly was fired last week, and he wasn't even the first coordinator this season to get the boot. That would be special teams coordinator Tom McMahon.

So, yeah, not much is working. And especially not the offensive line which is led by Pete Carroll's son, Brenden Carroll.

Anyway, time to look to how this team can try and improve next year.
