BYU Opens as Big Underdog to Texas Tech in Big 12 Championship Game

FanDuel Sportsbook released it conference championship game odds and BYU is an early 13.5-point underdog to Texas Tech in the Big 12 Championship game. The point total is 50.5.

Texas Tech handily beat BYU 29-7 in Lubbock on November 8. That is BYU’s lone loss of the season. The Red Raiders outgained BYU 368-255 yards and won the turnover battle 3-0. BYU’s three turnovers were a Bear Bachmeier interception and fumble and a Parker Kingston muffed punt in the first quarter. LJ Martin had just 10 carries for 35 yards in his first game back from a shoulder injury he suffered the game before at Iowa State. Martin has looked much healthier since, running for 405 yards and 3 TDs in 3 games. BYU will need LJ to be effective if they want a shot at pulling the upset.

Texas should be safely in the College Football Playoff field regardless of the field, and a win over BYU would likely secure a top 4 seed for them and a first round bye. BYU, meanwhile, likely to needs to win if they want to get in the CFP field.
