Liverpool Are Facing Stiff Competition For This Borussia Dortmund Striker: Decent Option For Slot?

In a recent report, journalist Florian Plettenberg mentioned that Liverpool are facing stiff competition for Borussia Dortmund striker Serhou Guirassy. It has been stated that the Reds would have to rival Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester City, Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United in the race to land the Guinean talent next year.

Guirassy’s Decent Record In The Bundesliga

Guirassy has enjoyed a good run of form at the German club in this campaign so far after he produced a string of impressive displays for them in the final third. The Guinea international has banged in nine goals and earned four assists in 17 matches for RB Leipzig this season across all competitions.

The 29-year-old has led the line well for Dortmund up top and has done well to average 2.77 shots per 90 minutes in the Bundesliga. He has kept 59.3% of his attempts on target. However, Guirassy needs to improve his ball distribution based on his pass success rate of 72.2% in the top tier of German football (stats via fbref.com).

His current contract at the Signal Iduna Park will expire in the summer of 2028. Thus, Liverpool would have to make a convincing offer if they are serious about recruiting Guirassy next year.

Will Guirassy Be A Good Option For Liverpool Boss Arne Slot?

Guirassy is a decent dribbler with the ball at his feet and has got the eye to play some decisive passes in the final third. He can shoot the ball with power from long range and has proven himself to be a reliable goal-getter in the Bundesliga.

Standing at 1.87m, the Guinean talent is a strong presence in the air as well. However, there are some concerns over whether he can adapt to the physical style and high intensity of the Premier League if the Reds manage to sign him next year.

We can expect Guirassy to add more goals to Liverpool head coach Arne Slot’s frontline. He is good enough to challenge Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike for a regular first-team spot at the Merseyside club.

At 29, Guirassy is playing in his prime, which makes him a decent option for the Reds to pursue this January or at the end of this campaign. However, Slot has to give him some time to settle into life in England.
